Breeding & market classes
Breeding Does — Doe Kid, Yearling Doe and Aged Doe divisions. Placement is determined by teeth rather than birth date.
Breeding Ewes — Ewe Lamb, Yearling Ewe and Aged Ewe divisions, not divided by breed. Placement is determined by teeth.
Market Goats — three weight divisions, each divided into no more than four weight classes.
Market Lambs — Southdown, Finewool, Finewool Cross, Dorper and Medium Wool. A minimum of three lambs of the same breed establishes a breed division; divisions may be combined when the minimum is not met.
Animal health & weighback
- Market sheep and goats must have milk teeth.
- Animals must be free of external abscesses, sore mouth, ringworm, pink eye and parasites.
- Animals showing signs of a disqualifying health condition will not be allowed to enter.
- All livestock must comply with Texas Animal Health Regulations.
- First, second and third place market animals may be subject to weight verification.
- Market goats have a four-pound weighback allowance; market lambs five pounds.
- No minimum or maximum weight limits unless otherwise stated.
Guadalupe Shootout
There is no entry fee for the Guadalupe Shootout. Exhibitors must be a 4-H or FFA member who resides in Guadalupe County, or who attends school and participates in an FFA chapter located in Guadalupe County.
One class of market goats and one class of market lambs are judged on animal quality, marketability and showmanship. The Shootout is not divided into breed or weight classes.

Livestock trailer parking is in the West Field Parking Lot. Trailers are not permitted past the cattle barn and Dance Pavilion area — that area is for unloading and loading animals and equipment only.
Care of exhibits
Exhibitors are responsible for keeping aisles, stalls and pens clean. Trash, litter and used bedding must be placed in the designated disposal areas. Livestock must be in their stalls or pens by 9:00 AM each day.
